Over the next few posts I’d like to dive into an idea that is so appealing to our human sensibilities that many could mistakenly think me a genius!
(**Actually, only my mom ever thinks of me as a genius so for what it’s worth, I’ll post anyway and maybe she can convince you sometime to join her slanted POV…..ha!!)
Christianity is primarily a belief system of God’s justice and humanity’s redemption. From Genesis to Revelation, the Beginning to the Ending, God is at work revealing Himself and offering Himself to rescue His wayward creation. Really impressive on the part of Creator-God, this is the ultimate story of love and devotion in light of rejection and tragedy.
Once redemption is achieved and payment is made (think, “Good Friday and Resurrection Sunday!”), mankind is brought into a beautiful relationship with their Creator through faith in His goodness. New life is born in the hearts of believers with opportunities to manifest the Creator’s work of redemption in lives now lived for His glory in the power of the Spirit. Established upon a new set of guiding principles of thought, (aka, epistemology) believers construct a life lived with intention in reflecting the good character of their Creator. “Let this mindset be in you as that of Christ Jesus,” (Philippians 2:5) who –in humility– humbled Himself before mankind in order to win mankind.
The transformed mind of the Christian begins with this illogical, counter-intuitive, nonconformist ideal: HUMILITY. And humility always seeks the good of others before its own.
Christians “should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry” (James 1:19). We should be the kind of people who seek agreeable conversations over egregious posts. We should be willing to hear all sides before taking sides. We ought to be welcomed into conversations because we’re known as the kind of people who bring fair perspectives, equitable insights, a godly wisdom and a desire for justness in life. Our profitability in society begins with Christ-like humility (Titus 3:8).
